About Minnesota
Suicide Prevention
Trainer Network

The Minnesota Suicide Prevention Trainer Network (MNSPTN) was created with one goal in mind – to prevent suicide.

In 2023, as part of the Minnesota State Suicide Prevention Plan, the MNSPTN was created with the goal of creating a more collaborative approach to suicide prevention across the state. Individuals, community partners, suicide prevention organizations as well as local, county, and state departments are coming together to bring education, training, and resources to all Minnesotans. In addition, the MNSPTN is a tool for certified mental health and suicide prevention program trainers to find support, build skills, and connect with other trainers.

The Minnesota Department of Health funds Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Grants that promote mental health and prevent suicidal experiences. For more information on Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Grants and Grantees, please contact [email protected].

We believe that, together, we can prevent suicide.

Our Vision

For every Minnesotan to receive suicide prevention education and to learn how to access mental health resources.

Our Mission

To cultivate a statewide, collaborative approach in an effort to provide education and resources to individuals and communities, connect trainers with communities in need, and provide a network of support, connection, and resources for suicide prevention and mental health trainers.

Our Goals

Develop the Trainer Network as the place where trainers and communities can find support, resources, continuing education, and training opportunities

Utilize comprehensive, community-based approaches to mental health by connecting individuals, organizations, and communities to trusted resources and certified, knowledgeable trainers

Increase and expand mental health and suicide prevention education in partnership with communities throughout the state in order to decrease stigma and discrimination, promote positive mental health practices and resiliency, and normalize conversations about mental health

Help host and maintain a statewide mental health and suicide prevention calendar and registry of trainers
